Media literacy refers to the ability to use different media tools or software, to access and analyze information, and most importantly, to create and spread things through various media forms. Media literacy is very critical for one’s personal development and career promotion, it is especially so in the current era of globalization when international coloration becomes more and more common and necessary.
From this perspective, PLN has many benefits. First of all, PLN can help a person to access much more information which can widen one’s career choices. Traditionally, if a person wants to apply for a job, he/she can turn to job advertisements on TV, newspaper, or his/her relatives and friends. However, currently, with the building of personal learning network one can even acquire information from a total stranger. One can follow a celebrity on Facebook or Twitter who is working on the related filed and try to get touch with the professional and finally get recommendation or suggestion.
Secondly, PLN allows a person to shape more comprehensive understanding towards the things and the world around him/her. That is because when people is willing to share their opinions or professional knowledge, other people who can access their voice through PLN can also learn more about different fields. In this way PLN can widen one’s horizon and add to one’s knowledge.
Thirdly, PLN is not only an opportunity for one to receive external information but also provides a platform for one to build his/her image. One can post positive images or texts to build a professional and pleasing character, which can further help one’s career development.

Hi,xin.sorry for comment you lately.but I has read this blog when you updated it this week. I agree with your idea also this is my thoughts.both veterans talk about the importance of a PLN in their respective careers and social networks. A PLN allows for one to be able to connect with others, open up, discuss and get feedback on media. It allows individuals to question what they see, watch and hear and also bounce off each other and have perspective on what they are exposed to in the media.
